Can't spell 'Paint' without P-A-I-N
The Tree of the Thunder Gods
Caring for Your Pens and Nibs
September 2006; Schoolby Megan Myers
Welcome to September!
Ahh, September. When the leaves start turning, the temperatures cool, and the air is filled with the simultaneous sounds of children groaning and parents rejoicing at the return to school.
Even though we're all grown up (in age, anyway), we love the neverending process of learning. In honor of schools everywhere, we've filled this issue with tutorials, tips, tricks, and even a little homework! Jenny Heidewald and Sonya Fedotowsky each walk us through the painting process, Ursula gives us the lowdown on choosing painting surfaces, Melissa Acker explains the basics on reference photography, Audrey Wildhagen uncovers the mysteries of writing for publication, and Sylvia Leung dives into comic writing. And don't forget our other columns, reviews, and back-to-school art gallery and fiction!
We had a great response for our call for submissions! We are looking for artwork, fiction, and articles for November at this time - the theme is "ghosts"! Please see the guidelines for more details.
Thanks to everyone who has supported EMG-Zine! This month's opening graphic is by Mark Dewey and our accent graphic is by Jen Cabbage
