  • News for February!
    EMG News
    by Ellen Million

Hi folks! I survived my vacation, and although I didn't get EVERYTHING done that I wanted to, I sure got a lot done! Ellen Million Graphics opened back up on the 20th, for all of your fantasy art product and printing needs.

Happy news for artists out there! After more than a year of closed submissions, the EMG gift shop is now accepting new work! This means that new designs are going up - just about daily - and that if you know an artist who would like to join us, this is a great time! With luck and a sane schedule on my part, submissions will remain open for good. Except, probably during the Christmas season, when I simply won't have time to review work. See the guidelines for more information.

All of my products are under rather continuous scrutiny, and it is not unusual for me to throw up my hands and say 'not good enough!' and figure out a better way to do things a few times a month. I have changed my printing style on cards twice in the last four years, and they are undergoing yet another change! Holding an old one and a new one, side by side, I think you'll see little difference, but they are now an order of magnitude cheaper when you take into account my time and misprints, and I am relieved of having to raise the price as I'd been realizing I badly needed to. So, no price change, aren't you lucky?

There is also no price change in stationery, but, instead of 10 printed sheets and 10 blank sheets, now you get 20 printed sheets. It is also now printed by color laser printer, for a better quality stationery page. And you read that right, no price change!

In addition, the quality of lamination has been vastly improved, due to a replacement of some frustrating older equipment. If you have ever ordered a bookmark, of any age, in any condition, and you would like to trade it in*, I will do so at no charge. Just mail it to me, with your name and address. If you remember where or when you bought it, please let me know! Send them to Ellen Million, PO Box 82851, Fairbanks, Alaska 99708.

Speaking of bookmarks, there is a new bookmark option available on a whole stack of designs! These are not the usual long and skinny format of bookmark, but the same 2.5 x 3.5 inch rectangle as the magnets and stickers, so they'll show off most full designs. They are otherwise the same - sturdy lamination, fabulous color printing, radiused corners and a pretty tassel to top them off. Because they're so much easier to make than the odd sizes (which I have to cut out by hand!), they are more than a tad cheaper! $2.50 includes the tassel.

Aaaand, a completely new product! These marvelous keychains have a 2 1/4" round design, colorfast printing and a clever mirror-back. Whether you use it to powder your nose, peer around corners or signal help after your plane crashes, this is a lovely and useful accessory for your keys. $4.00

The menu has been slightly rearranged at the giftshop, hopefully everything is still pretty easy to find! http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/fantasyart/

Over at Portrait Adoption, there is a new way to browse. Now you can shop according to your budget, with the browse by price page.

In addition, the site now shows you what an artist is willing to change about each portrait! A number of artists are quite happy to change an eye color, hair color, etc to make a portrait more perfectly yours.

For March, we will be welcoming a new reviews editor, Doris Hernandez to our team! A sad farewell to our previous 'project queen' Gette, hopefully she will continue to review for us. Please send your reviews to Doris at reviews@emg-zine.com - we're looking for fantasy and science fiction media reviews, as well as reviews on handy gadgets and online services of interest to writers and artists!

    Be well,
    Ellen Million

*You may not swap designs, you are only receiving a product upgrade, it is not a new sale. No limit! Free shipping! And seriously, any condition!
