  • July 2008 -- The Senses
    by Jennifer Broschinsky

Welcome to the July issue of EMG-Zine, where we explore the realm of our senses!

Our senses dictate how we perceive the world. What do we see? Hear? Feel? How about taste? Or even smell? And what can deceive our senses, and distort our perception? Is there more to the world than what we observe through our senses – and if so, how do we know?

In this issue, Melissa Acker finishes the walk-through of her sphinx watercolor, Marina continues her examination of the history of the Tarot, Giovanna investigates the life and art of Warwick Goble, and Ursula describes what makes erotica work (oh my)! We have a feature from Lorna Cowie on using one's senses to enhance creativity, and the second in a series on cyberfunded creativity from Elizabeth Barrette. We also have sensory-themed art, fiction and comics! Enjoy!

If you would like to submit work for our September issue, the theme is “Blades”. Be sure to read the guidelines before submitting.

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
