  • October 2008 -- Leaves
    by Jennifer Broschinsky

Welcome to October's issue of EMG-Zine! This month we focus on that great symbol of the changing seasons, Leaves.

Just as early buds on the trees are one of the first signs of spring, the turning of the leaves in Autumn reflect the season's flavor and dominant colors. In honor of the season, and the magic of the natural cycle of growth and decay, we present this month's theme.

In this issue, Marina discusses the language of flora; Melissa Acker outlines the basics of watercolor supplies; Giovanna Adams explores the life and times of Frank Rudolph Paul, and Ursula talks about the effects of burnout. We also have Selina Fenech's walkthrough of her painting, "Hide and Seek", plus leaves-themed art, comics and poetry. Enjoy!

If you would like to submit work for the December issue, the theme is Wings, and the deadline is November 1. Please read the guidelines before submitting. Thanks!

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
