Interior Decorating for the Artist
Icy Arrivalby Michelle M. Mead

Twixt the river bend and old man tree,
lived the smallest elf of silver blue
Icy Winter was his place to be,
from when the first winds blew

He awaited the passing of the leaves
wanting November to breathe a blast,
for after the grass first began to freeze,
he said "This green won't last."

He sought for the very best spots to place
both his coldest breath and touch of ice,
upon the branches and mountain face,
where sparkling snowflakes did entice

Beneath his hands, a lake no more,
but a swathe of piercing ice delight,
Friends, beware -- as his fingers bore,
deep holes into the surface bright

So when the cracks you begin to see,
ice dancing across with smiles wide,
step off, be wise and hear this plea --
STAY ON THE FROZEN SIDE!
