November 2008 -- Ice
by Jennifer BroschinskyWelcome to the November issue of EMG-Zine! This month's cool topic is Ice! Just as last month's theme celebrated Autumn and the changing seasons, this month we focus on the winter transformation, when many living things make the long sleep under cold and white, awaiting Spring's return. Ice itself, water made solid, is the embodiment of a transformation. In this issue, Melissa Acker shows some techniques that can be used with ink, Giovanna Adams introduces us to artist and illustrator Pauline Baynes, and Ursula tackles interior decorating from an artist's perspective. We have a feature from Elizabeth Barrette on Xenolinguistics, and our own Ellen Million gives us a run-through of her pen-and-ink piece, "Ice Spiders" (including Elizabeth Barrette's poem that inspired the piece). Plus, we have ice-themed art, poetry, and comics. Enjoy! If you would like to submit work for our January issue, the theme is Ox. Please read the guidelines before submitting.![]() Would you like to support our contributors?
