Winged
by Michelle M. MeadYou might see her spread wings if you pass
by the woods on a cold and snowy night, and if she puts out a hand for you to clasp, accept it quick and walk into the light The Angel of the Woods is near, with feathers softest brown and white, all birds and animals are in her care as she closely guards them on her flight I saw her once on a winter's day, when I mourned my cat now passed, she held him in her open arms, and to her he did cling fast Tears came to my eyes right then, and I longed to hold him tight, but she whispered, "He is safe,"' and that he would be alright It was at that moment that I saw his wings, open up as wide as the skies, I blew a kiss to his new life, and the joy within his eyes. ![]() Would you like to support our contributors?
