June 2009 -- Spiders
by Jennifer BroschinskyWelcome to the June 2009 issue of EMG-Zine! Our theme this month is Spiders.
They're everywhere -- hiding in corners, spinning their webs, hunting the smaller denizens of our homes and gardens with their subtle traps and poisons. Deft weavers, quiet observers, silent helpers in the garden, or creepy crawly scary things -- whether they're fascinating or the stuff of nightmares, spiders are an intrinsic part of folklore the world over. In this issue, Constanza interviews artist James McPartlin; Missy walks us through a graphite piece, and Ursula gives us the low-down on her new technique. In a feature, Ellen discusses how to receive criticism. We also have plenty of spider-themed art, fiction, poetry and comics. Enjoy! If you would like to submit work for our August issue, the theme is Wizards. Please read the guidelines before submitting. ![]() Would you like to support our contributors?
