  • September 2009 -- Indian Mythology
    by Jennifer Broschinsky

Welcome to the September 2009 issue of EMG-Zine, where we travel to India and explore its intricate mythology.

Full of deities, avatars, ethereal beings, great epics and other worlds, Hindu mythology is grand and fantastical. The stories, full of philosophy, otherworldly beings, and heroic acts, can be good inspiration for the budding fantasy artist or writer. For this month, we visit this land and revel in the exotic.

In this issue, Ursula tells us about her messy studio, Nicole talks about keeping your creative fires burning when your life is crazy, Constanza interviews artist Rita Ria, and Missy gives us a walkthrough of a colored-pencil phoenix. In a guest feature, Jessica Douglas walks us through creating pale skin tone, also in colored pencil, and we have Indian-Mythology-themed poetry, art and comics. Enjoy!

If you would like to submit work for our November issue, the theme is Moon. Please read the guidelines before submitting.

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
