  • February 2011 -- Rabbits
    by Jennifer Broschinsky

Xīn nián kuài lè! The Year of the Rabbit starts February 3 this year, so we welcome you to the February 2011 issue of EMG-Zine, where our theme is the Rabbit.

In the Chinese zodiac, the Rabbit is a serene sign of compassion and creativity -- friendly and outgoing, and sensitive to the feelings of others. Rabbits place great value in home, family and friends. They try to avoid conflict and tend to hide their emotions when they get upset, but they are great communicators. And so we reflect this month on the Rabbit, and on the coming year!

In this month's issue, Missy walks us through a watercolor of a jackalope, Jenny Heidewald takes a closer look at rabbits and hares, Constanza interviews artist Henning Ludvigsen, and Ursula contemplates her stack of artist magazines. We also have Rabbit-themed fiction and art. Enjoy!

If you would like to submit work for our April issue, the theme is Wind. Please read the guidelines before submitting.

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
