Welcome to the May 2011 issue of EMG-Zine, where we celebrate Dryads!

In Greek mythology, the dryad was a tree spirit, forever bound to her tree. Her well-being and her tree's health were inexorably bound together. During this springtime season of growth, what better thing to celebrate than the spirits of trees?

In this issue, Jenny Heidewald talks about drawing trees, Constanza interviews Alexandra Knickel, and Missy walks us through a dryad watercolor. We also have plenty of dryad-themed poetry and art. Enjoy!

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
