  • December 2012 -- Stars
    by Jennifer Broschinsky

Welcome to this, our final issue of EMG-Zine, where together we contemplate the Stars.

The night sky, full of swaths of tiny pinpricks, has been a source of reflection and inspiration for centuries, and even though the Milky Way is becoming a more and more rare thing to view in this modern world of light and 24-hour life, we still find insight there.

Endings are not always sad -- nor are they ever truly an end. When one thing ends, many others begin. Ellen says all there is to say in her interview and article about the reasons EMG-Zine is wrapping this month. It has been a good run, and we at EMG-Zine hope that you, our readers, have been able to take away with you something -- even one small tip or trick or inspiration -- to make your creative journey easier.

In this month's issue, Constanza interviews our own Ellen and Missy Acker walks us through a watercolor with stars. We have walkthroughs by Jenny Heidewald, Erika Harm and Mitzi Sato-Wiuff. Tori Beveridge offers a tutorial on creating Tubes, and Ellen offers her thoughts on endings. We also have Star-themed art and poetry. Enjoy!

Jennifer Broschinsky has, since her youth, filled her sketchbooks with things feathered and furred, winged and scaled. She is currently working on a sequential art story called Songseeker, and is working on raising three sons.
